Why is the level cap Level 10?

Hi. New user here, I read the FAQ and didn't see it on there, so I figured I'd ask here.

I power-leveled both my wolves up to level 10, and noticed they aren't gaining anymore exp, but the bar says “0/247”.

Is this the level cap for the initial release, and will it be raised in the near future?

The plan is to raise the level cap as further chapters of the story(s) are released.
