i'd say spend a lot of time in the campaign! stick mainly to the first non-camp location and learn the first few words of each encounter paragraph + where to click to continue for each of them, and if you're on pc, make sure to use your keyboard's refresh shortcut whenever you initiate a battle (you'll still get the loot but you won't have to wait!). the more time you spend in the campaign, the more likely you are to find a wild wolf, which – should you be lucky enough to snag one - sell for a fair amount of moonstones right now on the flea market.
speaking of, make sure to list things on the market. a lot (because even things like stacks of food for 1ms each add up). otherwise, getting money (esp ms) is a slow, painful crawl.
also, what @wuppytime said! especially for the cooking if you plan on having more than one wolf in your party at any given time during campaign grinding.
(side note, generally i've found that gauntlets aren't really worth the time they take. the best loot i've gotten from them is moonstone shards, but if you're low on pebbles and have some higher level wolves, it could be worth running a few rounds just to get some fairly quick money.)
