i haven't been able to test too many companions yet, but it looks like the rewards from companions might not be properly scaling with companion level. the last 2 bonds with my basidio at levels ~6 and 9 yielded 7 and 10 xp, respectively. i remember from beta and ea that the xp still varies, but was definitely higher than those lvl 1 amounts. i also remember item-granting companions not functioning correctly on level up during ea, maybe the bug has spread?

other people playing with leveled companions: are you seeing the proper rewards increase? i might have just gotten insanely bad luck rolls.

update: my lvl 10 basidio gave 25 xp, and my lvl 10 simburr did give an item in addition to pebbles, so i might have just very unlucky. exp is still on the lower side of what i remember though.

update2: the lvl 10 basidio just gave 7 xp, so i think something is wrong

Yeah I’ve not been getting the proper item rewards for my leveled companions, not a single reward above the lvl 1 rewards, despite many play sessions

I've got a companion who gives XP and at lvl 1 he gave consistent 10XP. now at lvl 4 he only gives 7XP. What the heck?

The bear keeps giving spicy snails instead of the leveled rewards and it seems to not increase although he's already lvl 10.

Yeah I've only been getting bone paste from things like the canictonis and sparklequills.

Same with pebbles, I generally get around 30 pebbles from things like the furmurs despite being level 10. Can confirm low rewards from xp, stamina and item rewarding companions as well

I've been using basidios to level a bunch of wolves, and at level 10, I get a mix of XP amounts given, with lowest being 5 and highest being 27. I didn't even consider it might be a bug. 😮

I've also been getting a mix of low rewards with other companions, as well.

Just going to nudge this again, because something still feels off!

I suspect that the reward is randomly rolled from all available level tiers, but if this is true it seems to contradict the explanations given in the Companions encyclopedia. If the current behavior is intended, “chance of increased xp/pebbles” might be the better way to phrase it.

Additionally, I have never received anything other than bone paste from my sparklequills and canictonis- has anyone been able to get the higher tier rewards to drop?

My brown moorbear has been at level 10 for some days, but I've never gotten anything from him but a snail.

From what I can tell, this at least affects the ones that give out bone paste (canictonis, cows, macaucos, rustfluff orthrus), eggs (snowloons, eclipsed orthrus), honey (black moorbear, one of the nythas), and snails (brown moorbears) as their base/first level reward. I haven't seen any of them give out anything else in months.
