no mention of where to obtain salt sugar cane or pepper or various fruits can you look into that please?

@Wulfraptor Salt and Pepper can be found in the first Goldsea area, in an encounter called “Find ingredients”. Sugarcane and fruits can only be found in the mole market so far.

However, I still dont know where to find leather for leather strips, did I miss that, or do I simply look in the wrong places.

You can find leather in the mole market, and at least couple hunts give them out as well. One of the treasure hunt ones (lower level, I don't remember which one it is exactly but I believe it's the one that requires a shield + two stars synergy) and snobby kuzma. There might be more hunts that give leather out, I can't remember. Nothing in the campaign drops them, unfortunately.
