Remember Your Roots My pair of wolves are based on members of the canidae family both domestic and wild. The pair's theme harks back to a basic truth behind every dog--that their history is rooted in that of the wolf. They may not be one in the same (as represented by each being embodied by a separate Lorwolf), but they are inextricably intertwined (represented by their many shared colors).
Oh I had so many ideas for this! I'm so prone to colorful abominations though, so I challenged myself to do something different - a pair based on the very real, natural palettes of me and my partners cats!
So first we have Goblin ( also known as Gobbo and Gobbles). Domestic shorthair, ticked tabby. I felt this really conveyed most of his colors and the way his steps vanish and blend because of the ticked tabby thing!
And then we have the trickier one: Calypso. She's a sphinx, andgiven all the wrinkles and skin, I had to make the obvious choice. Her colors proved harder though: she's not a standard pinky or even a calico or black. She's these beautiful muted purple and Grey tones, withsome subtle marks I tried to convey here. And what I like to call ‘ice green’ eyes.
She is also both the sweetest and t rudest cat i have ever had the benefit to share a home with, but that is another matter. ;)
Since the woods are finally starting to green up around here, here are some forest themed lorwolves. ^^
For the volmyr, I tried to reflect how the tree canopy looks from below. There's just something about the swaying of branches in the wind; the shifting patterns of leaves as they overlap and filter out the sunlight… For the zerda, I went with the same idea, but from their height. I thought about how the forest might look a little different from where the moss grows; where new seedlings find their way up through the leaf litter.
After looking at commonly paired things I decided to go with the classic Batman and Robin! Robin came together fairly easily, but it took a few tries to find a Batman design I liked. And of course Batman had to be a Volmyr!
I decided to have some fun and do a little entry ^^
I have decided to do sunrise and sunset! As they are some of my favorite things and as a nightshift worker i absolutely love to watch the sunrise in the morning and the sunset on my way to work. As much as its a fairly loved thing for everyone it has always been one of my most favorite things in the world to see. I have always been a night owl and watching the sunset is something absolutely anyone can do! Plus? Who doesnt love the look of a sunrise or sunset ^^? I decided to do a kit and a Jocol because they are my favorite ones i have found so far!
I thought about designing a Lightning and Thunder couple. I wanted the female's stripes to glow against a dark palette of greys and browns, just like lightning bolts striking all over the place. I find the zerda lines' energetic pose so fitting for this theme too.
For Thunder, it was trickier. I kept his palette close to Lightning's, but instead of sharp, solid stripes, I combined Under and Top stripes to form a very soft wispy pattern. It makes me think of sound waves crossing a very foggy atmosphere, while the white patch on top are sparks left by the lightning that started it all.
