Hunting rewards right now aren't a lot considering how much stamina it takes, so I propose that the higher your party level is compared to the recommended level, that it should give extra rewards when you finish the hunt.
Mm. I'm actually not sure. I got a lot of food and XP from hunting. It's my highest level profession despite me not checking it as often as the others.
The reward offset may take into account how easy it is to farm XP there, and we already get a higher success rate on harder hunts for using higher wolf levels. (It also acts as a good food sink later on.)
