Nah, I wouldn't consider it a player oversight, that is I think how a lot of people expect it to work-- instinctively it would make sense, why would changing the sex change the ID? But it's just some quirk about how they have it set up, alas. I hope they revisit that aspect of the back-end coding someday!. :P
The only trick I know for checking same-sex parents at the moment requires them to 1) be bred already and 2) have opposite sex offspring, and then check the offspring against each other/the parents in question. This does carry the risk of "these potential parents are only 4th gen away from each other, but the offspring are 5+ on the relevant side and thus compatible", but it's all I have come up with, hahaha.
