You pad up the steep incline, heading for the ominous den carved into the mountain's wall. Months and months as well as cryptic signs and hushed voices behind shadowed faces have taken you here: on a climb that has stretched on for hours up Darkspine's hidden treasure. A waterfall.
Spray hits you in the face as you finally spot the end of the climb, a flat, mossy platform next to the never-ending rushing river of water. A torrent. It would mean certain death for anyone unlucky enough to step into it.
In the shadows of the cave up top, the soft footfalls of a wolf cause you to hesitate. Only half-up, one misstep could mean a really unpleasant swim. You wait, ready, straining to hold yourself on the ledge.
A Bracchus approaches.
The female eyes you, her pointed fangs and eerily still eyes reminding you of a viper, ready to strike. But, instead of speaking, she just leans forward and helps you scramble up. Leaning forward to thank her, you find that she has already turned, gesturing with her head towards the cave. With no easy way down and the cave being, after all, your destination, you follow her into its depths.
