What happens to a companion if it's on a wolf you sell?

As the thread title asks; What happens to a companion if it's on a wolf you sell?

I realized I haven't sold any wolves, I was just hoarding forever... but I was debating selling them now. Wasn't sure if I had to remove the companion, or if it sells with the companion on it? Does the companion go back into the inventory? Does it get sold with the wolf? Does it disappear into the abyss? :'3 I have no idea lol.

Oh okay, good. It's just weird that it shows up in the sales list at all if it can't be sold while having a companion on it. Hopefully that's something that gets changed in the future because a large den... oouf... I was afraid to click on anything lol. Thanks!
