The PVE arena is fantastic, one of the best things on a short list of new additions to the site. I wish it would become a permanent feature even if it returned to normal arena deck sizes during non-event times. The clothes are cute, the companions are potentially interesting for various purposes.
I finished everything & got what I wanted, plus a bolus for next year's icerun event. But I heard a lot of the same feedback in the other direction that I think is worthy of sharing, too-- just because I personally didn't have trouble doesn't mean I think the event didn't have things that needed to be addressed for next time, both for the people that struggled this time & because ultimately it would be more enjoyable even for the folks that didn't struggle as hard.
Unofficial feedback/discussion threads are awesome, and I'm glad this one exists-- but we really need an official feedback thread too, and I hope we see one after the event officially closes, since otherwise it's going to be scattered and difficult for the devs to interact with and see what people liked and did not. That is critically important for a site like this.
The campaign/arena shuffle got monotonous over a month, but I think if the task requirements were consistently shorter, so you weren't constantly bombarded by 40/60 tasks, it wouldn't have been so bad; the ability to fill a task list with ONLY arena or ONLY campaign was a nice way to focus site activity and not get bogged down with choice paralysis. Whether that means they need to strip boss encounters back to only having five boss kills, and the explore/wins to only the 30s, and then add a third activity type to fill the gaps-- something like cooking that feeds into the campaign aspect of it would be ideal, so as not to be too jarring, but it would need to have similarly small numbers, with 30 simple recipes being the absolute max required-- or some other solution. :/
I also wish they wouldn't retire literally all of the themed apparel sets-- having the purple tier rarity set soft-retire and the blue tier rarity sets rest stick around for a couple years before they go in the rng box would be better for people with more IRL obligations; I've seen a lot of folks that couldn't finish the pebble path because of work obligations or because the long-winded 40/60 versions of the tasks just discouraged them from participating. The non-retiring companions I'm not figuring into this, as the first year will be the worst for anyone that joins... but I do think that the amount of soft-retiring clothes on top of the sheer amount of companions added was just too much, even for an event this long.
