I enjoyed it and accomplished a lot more than anticipated! I actually love bot-Arena, as a way to get tickets and pebbles and accomplish the tiers (which I thought was a good addition).

This is the first pet site event I've ever been on where I actually managed to get everything I wanted. And I have a full time job plus a second freelance role and a chronic illness, so it's not one of those things where you have to be in a specific position at a specific time to be able to participate--I never actually expected to manage one.

The Trials were much more difficult than anticipated but I see a lot of people had fun figuring them out and maybe I'll have more time to give team combinations at future events! Me not being able to do a thing doesn't make the thing bad for me, I jus twasn't able to dedicate much to it so I never managed to pass 29.

I completed the pass and then had to grind out another 2000+ tickets to get one of everything in the shop and it was such a hard grind I really stopped enjoying it and just had to get it done :(

I hope they adjust the next event to maybe give twice as many tickets per task or perhaps balance the pass so the same amount of tasks to get it completed is enough tickets to buy one of everything so you dont have to grind unrewarded for days on end

The PVE arena is fantastic, one of the best things on a short list of new additions to the site. I wish it would become a permanent feature even if it returned to normal arena deck sizes during non-event times. The clothes are cute, the companions are potentially interesting for various purposes.

I finished everything & got what I wanted, plus a bolus for next year's icerun event. But I heard a lot of the same feedback in the other direction that I think is worthy of sharing, too-- just because I personally didn't have trouble doesn't mean I think the event didn't have things that needed to be addressed for next time, both for the people that struggled this time & because ultimately it would be more enjoyable even for the folks that didn't struggle as hard.
Unofficial feedback/discussion threads are awesome, and I'm glad this one exists-- but we really need an official feedback thread too, and I hope we see one after the event officially closes, since otherwise it's going to be scattered and difficult for the devs to interact with and see what people liked and did not. That is critically important for a site like this.

The campaign/arena shuffle got monotonous over a month, but I think if the task requirements were consistently shorter, so you weren't constantly bombarded by 40/60 tasks, it wouldn't have been so bad; the ability to fill a task list with ONLY arena or ONLY campaign was a nice way to focus site activity and not get bogged down with choice paralysis. Whether that means they need to strip boss encounters back to only having five boss kills, and the explore/wins to only the 30s, and then add a third activity type to fill the gaps-- something like cooking that feeds into the campaign aspect of it would be ideal, so as not to be too jarring, but it would need to have similarly small numbers, with 30 simple recipes being the absolute max required-- or some other solution. :/

I also wish they wouldn't retire literally all of the themed apparel sets-- having the purple tier rarity set soft-retire and the blue tier rarity sets rest stick around for a couple years before they go in the rng box would be better for people with more IRL obligations; I've seen a lot of folks that couldn't finish the pebble path because of work obligations or because the long-winded 40/60 versions of the tasks just discouraged them from participating. The non-retiring companions I'm not figuring into this, as the first year will be the worst for anyone that joins... but I do think that the amount of soft-retiring clothes on top of the sheer amount of companions added was just too much, even for an event this long.

I just barely finished the Seasonal Pass and now I'm absolutely burned out. Didn't help that at the beginning I didn't know you can skip the tediously long battle animations by refreshing, so the first half of the event was watching videos on one half of my screen while letting the animations play out on the other half. And let me tell you, if you let all the animations play out, even those ~19 tasks a day someone eles in this thread calculated are looooong.

Was finishing the pass doable? Yes.
Did I have fun working through it? Absolutely not.

I don't know if it is my ADHD or just my general nature, but repetition is literal torture for me. But I'm also really bad at handling fomo, so I forced myself to get through the entire pass, especially since I unlocked the paid section. I was looking forward to getting something to do in the game, but now just thinking about having to do this three more times this year makes me want to run away...

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the people who liked the event. I'm just very much not one of them. Because for me, this event stole way too many of my daily Just-Do-The-Thing tokens, and if the second event will try the same, I'll have to adjust my priorities accordingly. I can't do this again, my brain is screaming just thinking about it.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. First off, I can't say enough how gorgeous the apparel is in the shop as well as how good the consumed companions look. The defeat 10 bosses was my biggest frustration, but I ended up just leaving that one to casually fill up as I went after other campaign tasks.

I LOVED the Icerun arena so much! Since my job is primarily taking calls it makes it almost impossible to play the actual arena at work with there being a time limit between moves, but with this I could play to my hearts content and pause when I have to take calls. That was the most fun part of the event for me. I honestly loved the combine pieces task as well. I found myself getting lost in only combining/selling pieces once my team was maxed out on 3 stars and I found the repetition of combining them to be a fun/satisfying game in itself.

I was burnt out quickly at first, but the increased ticket payout made it feel worth the grind, at least for me. I do wish I could've spend more time on just the arena side of it instead of having to switch back over to do campaign tasks, but it was still very fun. I look forward to the seasonal events to come!

What I liked:

  • Icerun Arena! Arena is my favorite aspect of the site, but I rarely play it because it's a 30 min commitment. The PvE arena sped up the process- I think even if it had more opponents, just the time saved by being able to advance rounds as quickly as you'd like would make the whole thing much faster. Being an Arena, it also means that all players are on even footing- you aren't limited by the wolves or companions you have, everybody (veteran or newbie) goes into it the same.
  • The items! I thought all the apparel was very on-theme and well-made; the companions were nice too!
  • Pebble battlepass! The cost might have been steep for new players, but I appreciated a pebble sink- and one that was actually worth it too.

Things I wasn't a fan of:

  • How the tasks were handled: I wasn't a fan of being "forced" into Campaign or Arena. Sometimes I wanted to just sit and mess around with different Arena teams, or just mindlessly click Campaign... but if none of my tasks were for that area, it felt like I was "wasting" my time/stamina/effort, which doesn't feel good. I also wasn't too thrilled about how we can only see either the event OR the weekly tasks- because I kept it on the event, I often forgot to do/claim my weekly tasks!
  • Task length: Some of the tasks were too big of asks for the payoff (I'm looking at you "Defeat 10 bosses"). Given the number of tasks we had to complete, let alone the number of tasks to complete if you wanted to buy everything/multiple copies, seeing the "big" tasks pop up got old really fast. I could go multiple stamina bars without encountering a single boss, finding (and for newer players, defeating) so many bosses was not fun. At least "Explore 60 times" has a definitive endpoint!
  • Quantity of "prizes": don't get me wrong, I loved the items and companions we got! But seeing how many, and how expensive, all of the prizes were was reallllllly off-putting, especially at first. It bothers me that I wasn't able to get everything in one go, even though I know most of the things will be coming back. Especially considering the "returning" prize pool might be larger next year, as we get new regular companions that might get the Consumed treatment.
  • Icerun Gauntlet: once you get a good team, it's just an RNG slog, which is ok I guess? The ticket rewards weren't anything fantastic, so I suppose it was more for bragging rights anyways.

How I would improve things:

  • Change the format of the tasks. Instead of being a set a randomly assigned tasks that we complete and claim intermittently like the daily/weekly ones, make them more like achievements-style; something we continuously add to and can claim when we want. This would solve two of my gripes instantly- it would give us more freedom to do what we want when we want while not compromising our ticket-earning ability, AND it wouldn't "hide" the weekly tasks- just throw the bars up on the event page somewhere! This could also allow for adjustment based on difficulty, and allow for more "passive" currency gain a la FR gathering; you could have a bar that "levels up" every time you vote in the Pageant, catch x fish, mine/smelt x ore, etc... the tasks could also be tweaked to be more specific to each Pack as well- maybe Farming is more important to one pack, and thus gives better rewards for example. As an extra bonus, this would also allow newer players (who may not have access to the areas or teams strong enough for the Campaign) to participate as well! Harder tasks (defeating bosses, winning arena, etc) could be rewarded at a more frequent or higher payout level. The battlepass can even stick around with this format- it would just track total milestones achieved, just like our overall achievement level.

Overall, I think the event was very successful, especially for the first go-around! A month-long event is really ambitious for a first venture, and I found it balanced surprisingly well, although I did get a bit bored with it by the end. With a couple tweaks to the task system, I think it could be made even better and more accessible to more players and playstyles. I really hope Icerun Arena returns in some way (ideally as a permanent option- mini Arena please!!)

I had an alright time overall, but I feel like I agree with a lot of the criticisms people are bringing up. It would have been nice to be able to complete tasks through regular play- sure I managed to finish the season pass, but even as someone who likes the arena, having to go through it over and over again is exhausting, not to mention how much time is spent trying to find campaign bosses.

Speaking of arena and campaign, the chaos status effect is cool in theory, but personally, I found it kind of irritating in practice. Losing a battle because I wasn't strong enough is fine, but losing a battle because my pieces were too busy slap-fighting each other to do anything just stings.

I'm glad they upped the number of tickets you get as prizes, I definitely would have struggled otherwise. But, with how expensive the shop items are, it kind of turns the task and combat payouts into peanuts. I don't think I paid attention to the task tickets the whole event- why would I when the season pass is what's letting me actually afford anything?

I liked it overall- cool new apparel, cool new lore, cool new companions- but there's definitely some things I would think could be changed to make it a smoother experience.

I'm annoyed they closed the shop as soon as the event ended. I didn't get to spend any of my tickets. Most other sites keep the store open for a few days after to prevent this, and it seems like an easy fix.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! It got me to spend a lot more time on the site. And I suppose I’m in the minority here, but I felt like it wasn’t all that difficult getting the items with the extremely large amount of time we were given (and yes I have a job lol, I work 40-50 hour weeks). I didn’t get all of the Consumed companions, but I was getting some doubles of the soft-retiring stuff.

Thus far the only things I’d like to see in the future are more methods of obtaining tickets, just because switching between the Icerun Arena and the Campaign doing the same few tasks did get a little boring after a while.

A lil bummed out that I didn't get everything I wanted to despite the grind (did not get the frostbitten winter hunter set), but I did get most of what I wanted. Can't say I got farther than the half way point since I was on 6/10 before the event ended.

I will say the whole event was pretty fair overall and some of it was just an issue of me not understanding how the event works for enough of it that made a difference that won't really be an issue for other upcoming holidays / events.
