@lilliful that's how I feel too when I was putting in bare wolves I bred and they don't even place anywhere.

I'm finding that a lot of the wolves I'm most proud of either haven't placed at all lately, or they place 3rd (rarely higher). I've seen recently that non-dressed or simply dressed wolves have been placing higher than mine even when I submit my best dressed.
I think as others have pointed out that some players have stopped voting for wolves heavy with CA. Ngl, there was a time when I saw an absolutely epic wolf in the pageant that I was afraid to vote for because I thought they would completely dominate the competition, then I felt horrible when that wolf didn't place at all.
I usually vote first for wolves that have the most matchy apparel to their colors (CA or not), then I look for wolves well dressed but not decked out in CA. I rarely vote for a non-dressed wolf and almost never an unnamed wolf. I personally feel like those that have put the time and effort into matchy CA should have the same chance to win as those with wolves wearing only site apparel, but I find it's a tough balance when it comes to p2w and f2p.
I'm thinking that part of the CA bias is that there aren't many patterns or site apparels, so it's difficult to be creative without the use of CA. I would say there are few wolf color, species, and pattern combinations I haven't already seen. My eyes are going to be automatically drawn first to the wolf wearing the CA I haven't seen before.
I wouldn't be analyzing this if there weren't 5 tiers of achievements related to placing in the pageant (10 placements needed in total to unlock all). Hopefully over time, the placements will be well distributed among the community, seeing as everyone votes differently. Based on this discussion, beauty isn't the sole deciding factor
I definitely support one of the aforementioned solutions of voting for a pageant your wolf isn't in. I do feel as slighted as the next person when I place under a no name (or somehow don't place in a pageant with 10+ winners when my wolf fully matches) but everyone has their own goals and there's always next week.
I've only placed first once with my progen, but I feel even then it's a bit unfair because that wolf was entirely meant to match that color scheme. I'm far more likely to vote for WWs that match their names/outfits. This wolf comes to mind. CAs don't matter too much to me unless a wolf has over the max slots in CA-specific apparel or full CA sets (monarch set comes to mind first for this).
Pageants would also be more fun if each week had a different theme? Give us some more variety in what we see entered each week.
7 day update:
My wolf did not place 😭 i cri. Only three wolves placed in my pageant in total, which I don't think I've seen before.
Scoops is a cutie ~
I think a themed week would be pretty fun, but we probably need more site apparel options first!
I placed 1st in mine and my friend in 3rd. 4 placements total.Congrats to you both!~ That's awesome.
