I joined last night at around 7:45pm EST, and so far, I'm enjoying this game! The only issue I'm having is finding sticks so that I can make pickaxes.
You can find sticks and bone paste in the second sword area of Murkwood and the Mole Market which changes its items every eight hours. Since you joined in Gold Sea, once you finish the Gold Sea scenarios you are free to play the other pack scenarios but you still remain a member of Gold Sea.
Once you reach, I think level 27 in the Crafting profession, a new scenario in the very first area of Darkspine also provides sticks.
But I have a ton of sticks so I'll send you some as a welcome gift.

I literally came home from my senior trip through France and parts of Italy in the summer of 2017 with a plastic bag full of various cool-looking rocks that I gathered from various beaches on the trip, LOL! And I'm far from the only one in my very neurodivergent immediate family who's done that!
There's even a saying in my family: "A true [my family name] will always come home from an overnight trip with a bag full of rocks!"
