I like the achievement, I even love them. There are great ideas in them, and I've started to chase some of them. It kind of have rekindled my interest. But I think some are weird or should not be present. The following is just my personal opinion.
- Non gameplay related achievements shouldn't be there (friend and forum posts).
- RNG based achievement feel a bit too difficult to get and should be severely balanced or removed depending on the difficulty of the RNG. For example: "Twinsies!!!" getting identical wolves with breeding is so rare, close to impossible. Is it fair to have that achievement? A one level achievement maybe? It can make a fun little challenge if getting twins is actually possible (has it ever happened, though?). But five levels of it?
- Profession NPC boosts achievement (ex: "Praise The Thumbs!"), no real problem with them. I think it's a nice pebble sink. Even if unfortunately, at the moment most of them are completely useless. But I think all professions should have them, so why fishing doesn't have one with Koda? I just hope it's a mistake and not because koda is the most used NPC as being the only useful one.
- Achievement based on failure (ex: "Becoming The Hunted") are not fun, I'd rather see positive achievement that push people to play the game.
- Then are achievement-specific problems, for example "To The Top" in the Gauntlet achievement to max it out you need to reach level 25 in the gauntlet. Since beta, I have never ever seen someone reach that high. I think the higher I've seen was 14. My personal best was 13.
And I think I have talked too much now, there is still plenty to be said about the achievements, both negative and very positive. I just hope it will keep players interested long enough for the next update.
