It actually is possible to post wolves without using some other image host, its just that the code is impossible for anyone to figure out if they didn't see the update. Heck I'd have to look it up right now since it hasn't stuck in my mind at all.

Other people have since covered any points I feel I could make, with Beetle especially hitting the nail on the head, but I will pop in again to say that I 100% agree that the forums need some major updates. I can't point out every little thing off the top of my head but the biggest issue I would say is the lack of customization? I think that's the right way to word it lol

Because I'm predominantly a discord user, yes, but I've also been a very heavy forum user previously. Heck, there are years of my life where my primary hobbies were forum roleplays, and I personally can't stand discord roleplays! They're much too chaotic and cluttered feeling for me. So while I prefer discord as a general social platform, don't get me wrong in thinking that I dislike forums at all.

But the forums here are just so... eugh? The user interface has some good points, but by and large it's so limited in what it allows you to do that I feel like I'm being choked trying to make things because a lot of my usual options for organization are being denied to me. And I understand that they want more cohesive forum layout, I get it, but I feel like the current way it's being gone about stifles users to the point that it becomes almost hostile; I can't count how many times I've gotten frustrated while trying to make something on here and had to irritably go through multiple outside sources to accomplish what would've been two lines of basic code on any other forum. That is! Not enjoyable! And does not encourage me to use the forums!

I feel like a better way to go about it would be to have rules on what sort of things are strictly not allowed and just have the forums be moderated, rather than outright taking versatility away from the user. I have my own ways of setting things up born from years of my own forum experiences, and I turn to them in order to organize projects and make things accessible to people reading my threads. Lorwolf just... straight up denies me the ability to do those things more often than not. Because look, I'm sorry, but I should not have to manually resize an image off-site in order to get it to show up in the dimensions I want; I should just be able to define the size in the code and have it go through from preview to submit. And as mentioned before but I'm bringing back because it's a big one: I should be able to change the titles of my own threads, I shouldn't have to ping a moderator to do so for me.

But yeah, all in all I prefer discord as a social platform and that's not likely to change, nor is it for most other people who feel the same way! But I can confirm that at least I, personally, would use the forums more if they weren't so dang aggravating. 🤣 Cause right now I'm just frustrated, lol.

While I have discord, I'm not sure I will ever join the Lorwolf discord, simply because I have two servers for two online games that I follow regularly (or semi-regularly, anyways) right now, and it feels already too much going on for me.

For Lorwolf, a game that is, all in all, pretty slow paced, and that I personally play very casually, I don't see the point in joining the discord, just to maybe show off a wolf or two once in a month, if that.

I would love that when users reply in a post, it would be indicated, like a little "new" icon or something, so it would be easy to see when someone posted in that thread since you last checked it.

Seriously, though, I do feel very left out because I don't like Discord. I just take it on faith that there are other players here. :)

I don't know what to think of the discords anymore. On a personal level, I don't really like big discords like the LW one too much too fast, terrible for reading something from the past, awful if you are not online, what is gone is ... well gone no possibility to talk about it anymore, revive an old conversation is close to impossible. In the past, I liked that kind of fast-paced thing when I was young and had all the time in the world, those who are old enough will remember how some IRC channels would make the busiest discords look slow. But I'm getting older and have no time to spend to be always online. Discord has a huge FOMO factor to it. So I leave it alone for people who like it and I don't want it removed from them.

But regarding LW? I feel very conflicted, I think I want it gone and have only one hub for everything, so all LW information is regrouped and not scattered. I have reasons for that, it doesn't come from anywhere. Yesterday I took a look at discord out of curiosity and I learned two things.

There is a community wiki, everyone seams to know about it over there, but here? No one knows about or if they do, they never talk about it.

The discord has an "achievement hunting" channel, but not the forum! Why is that? Have the Lorwolf team just gave up on the forum and left us in the dust? There is a tone of valuable information in there, that isn't shared with every one. Information that is completely lost in the tsunami of messages that is discord.

So, now I'm very conflicted on what could be done. I recognize the usefulness or both discord and the forum, and I don't want to see either go. I just think something has to be done and fast. We can't just have the community split in two forever, that won't work in the long run.

I think the best solution to make it stick is to have some categories exclusive to the forum because it's on Lorwolf and every player should have an easy access point to them centralized. For example, I think all the sales, trades, giveaways; challenges etc. should be exclusive to the forum. Same for what is gameplay related as the achievement talks for example, we can't let part of the community without this information or split in half.

Something like that needs to happen, or one of the two needs to go away. Because I feel if nothing is done, one will naturally die and disappear, and I don't believe it will be the discord.

Yeah same. I feel way more comfortable talking on forums than discord because of the non-instant nature of it. There is more time to think before you post.

I like the forum when I'm not able to pay attention for a long time and/or respond right away, and I prefer discord when it's my downtime for chatting and/or I need a quick response.

I think it's good to have both options. If more people made forum discussions, I would participate. I've added a few topics (I like to make the achievement go up hurhur) but don't want to be overbearing about it, so the discussion pace is set by the community in a way.

Discord is just another social media at the end of the day. It's designed to keep people on it as much as possible.
